Glamping has to be one of the best ideas ever right? Combining modern luxury with outdoors and nature, a mix of creature comforts and camping. You could call it a a cool version of camping! I got to find out first hand what its all about when I visited Butt Farm camp site in Beverley, East Yorkshire
Butt Farm is a caravan and camp site as the name implies on a working farm. Its handily located near to the historical market of Beverley. The ‘3 little pigs’ glamping lodge is made from 66 bales of straw and sheep’s wool insulation to the roof! So you can imagine stays quite warm, even in the middle of October when we stayed.
The lodge can sleep up to 3 people, the seating area turning into a 3rd bed! There’s a fully fitted kitchen with fridge, and hob. Pots, pans and utensils are available along with tea and coffee.
The bathroom is quite snug, but has a fitted toilet, shower and basin. So there’s no need for any mid-night trips to the toilet block!
There’s no worry about being cold in the lodge with all those straw bales and lambs wool insulation to keep you warm! There’s even an electric heater if it does get a bit nesh (Yorkshire for cold!)
Its a must to sit out on the decking and take in the countryside surroundings and watch the evening sun set. Then light up the fire pit! Believe it or not I’ve never even tried toasted marshmallows until now… well its safe to say I’m converted!
Waking up in the middle of the countryside is not something you get to do very often unless your lucky enough to live on a farm!
One of the really cool things about Butt Farm is the fact it used to be WW2 gun battery, one of a number in Hull! It’s definitely worth a look round.
I’d definitely recommend a stay at the glamping lodge at Butt farm. I don’t think this will be my last glamping experience! A 2 night stay costs £100 for bookings between November and March. Go check out their site for more details or to make a booking.
