If you’re a regular regular you’ll probably know that I’m a big fan of Motorsport! So when an email landed a few weeks back with an invite to the Formula 1 at Silverstone there was only going to be one answer!
We were being hosted by IQOS who had their own VIP lounge right in the heart of the Paddock Club. If you don’t know much about IQOS, they are a revolutionary company that have developed a method of heating tobacco instead of burning it. This results in 90% lower levels of harmful chemicals being created.
This was the first time I’d been to Formula 1, I was a bit taken from the scale of it all! The itinerary for the day had been kept under wraps so was a surprise on the day! The IQOS lounge was really cool, lots of comfy seating, big screen TV’s to watch Formula 1 on, an all important bar and a IQOS discovery section. The food and drink menu in the Paddock Club was nothing short of impressive! Lots of different starters, mains and desserts to choose from. Obviously I had to try quite a few of them!
There was a chance to win some signed Kimi Raikkonen Ferrari goodies including his race helmet, in a quiz about Formula 1. I obviously need to brush up a bit on my Formula 1 knowledge though!
One of the highlights of the day and something not to be missed was the Pitlane walk! This was a rare opportunity to get up close to the Formula 1 racing teams and cars and maybe even spot a driver!
We even got access to the Ferrari garage! How cool is that?! As you can imagine it was one of the more popular spots in Pit lane!
With Paddock Club access you get to view the racing from the balcony overlooking the Pit lane straight which was pretty damn cool right? I mean the sound of those turbo charged V6 engines! Seeing them reach over 200mph down the straights was quite breathtaking.
After qualifying had finished we were treated to a special appearance in the IQOS lounge by former world Formula 1 champion, Kimi Raikkonen! One thing we learnt about Kimi is that he’s definitely not a football fan! Ferrari managed a 2/3 in qualifying, with Kimi taking 3rd place on the starting grid. After the chat, sadly we had to set off for the train back home.
I honestly can’t remember a day going so fast! That’s always a sign of a good day though right? A big thank you to IQOS for inviting me along. Be sure to go and check them out.
