Personal intimate health can be a bit of taboo subject, especially amongst guys. Why do men find it so difficult to talk about personal health? I guess men can find it hard to open up on personal matters. Guys need to be encouraged its ok to talk about intimate health, that’s one of things the Canesten® #LetsTalkHealth campaign is aiming to do.
Intimate health can be a bit embarrassing or awkward to talk about, we should feel like we can discuss personal matters more openly. Did you know that thrush doesn’t just affect women, in fact, male thrush can be just as common! Yes you are reading that correctly, men can get thrush too.
What is thrush?
A common yeast infection which occurs when the natural balance of the skin is disturbed, which can affect both women and men of all ages. Its symptoms include itching, irritation and soreness.
Who’s vulnerable to it?
Thrush grows in warm moist conditions and if the balance of bacteria changes. This can happen if; your skin is irritated or damaged, you’re taking antibiotics, you have a weakened immune system.
How can you prevent it?
Avoid stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle, doing so will maintain a strong immune system. Avoid high sugar foods (I know that could be a hard one!)
How can it be treated?
The good news is thrush can be easily treated. Canesten® have a range of products that don’t need a prescription to treat the infection and calm the external symptoms.
