Hotel Park Piolets & Spa Andorra review

If you follow me on social media you might have seen that I was in Andorra snowboarding. I’ll be doing a post soon on what I thought Andorra as a snowboarding destination. In the meantime I thought I’d share a post about Park Piolets Hotel & Spa, where I stayed.

If you’ve not heard of Andorra before, its a small independent country on the French/Spanish border. As you can imagine its not a place you can really fly direct to! We flew to Lleida-Alguaire airport in Spain and from there, the coach transfer took around 3 hours to get to Soldeu in Andorra. Its a relatively small village at 1850 metres, so there’s a pretty good chance of some snow! This was my first full week snowboarding, I’d always skied before, did you catch my post about Sestriere?

There’s a mix of double, triple, quadruple and premium suites at Park Piolets. The rooms are modern and fitted out with lots of natural materials that give it the ultimate cosy ski lodge feel. Just what you want at the end of a hard day’s skiing or boarding!

All the rooms have large LED TV’s, mini bar, safe and WIFI coverage. As you might imagine, it does slow down at peak times!

The beds are fairly comfortable, a bit too firm maybe (think I’m too used to my memory foam mattress)! And they have far too many different sheets… what’s wrong with having just a duvet!

Most of the rooms have their own balcony with amazing views looking out over the mountains to the rear or ski slopes to the front. Imagine waking up to that scenery every day!

The bathrooms are just as good as the bedrooms. Fitted with modern fittings and super soft Egyptian cotton towels.

There’s no expense spared when it comes to complimentary products… each room get its own L’Occitane products!

As the name suggests, the Hotel has it’s very own spa! I’d completely forgotten to pack a pair of swimming shorts so I didn’t get to try it out 🙁  The Spa includes a Sauna, Whirlpool baths, Outdoor & Indoor Jacuzzi’s! Perfect for winding down and relaxing to ease tired muscles after a day out on the slopes! The Hotel even offer a free shuttle bus service to the bottom of the gondola, buses leaving every 10 minutes! There are lots of activities you can book at Reception including snow mobiling (if only I’d of known this), ice skating, snow driving and lots of others that will keep you entertained!

Food & drink

The setting for the Hotel restaurant, couldn’t be much better! It has 360 degree views looking out over the Pyrenees mountains, so you can enjoy your meal with far reaching views overlooking the mountains. Both Breakfast and Dinner are buffet service, served 7.30-10.30am and 7-10pm. There’s such a wide range of food that cater for all tastes and preferences and event the fussiest of eaters!

Breakfast you can choose from fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, omelettes, traditional cooked breakfast to those who have a sweeter tooth like pastries and freshly made pancakes!

Choose from freshly cooked food from 1 of the 8 cooking stations in the restaurant. I love trying new food and cuisine, I was literally spoilt for choice! So obviously I had to try a bit of everything (well nearly)!

If you like fresh fish you’re in a for a treat as they put different varieties of fresh fish each night. It’s definitely one of the best buffer restaurants I’ve been to for the choice and quality of food. If I had one slight criticism, it would be the quality of the meat. It’s not so bad its inedible, its just not sirloin or fillet steak if you know what I mean! Staff are always friendly and helpful.

Final thoughts

Park Piolets is probably the best ski/snowboard hotel I’ve stayed at! The facilities, rooms, service food & drink are all to a really high standard. Although it’s one of the more expensive Hotels in Soldeu, its definitely worth paying that bit more!

Have you been to Andorra before? Where did you stay and what did you think of it?
