Autumn grooming essentials

Autumn has well and truly arrived… darker nights are drawing in, comfy warm clothes are out and everyone is going mad for the ultimate autumnal drink, PSL! Autumn is notoriously a time that my skin seems to suffer, probably due to the drier air from colder low humidity that sucks moisture from skin which is more likely to cause dryness & flaky skin. The change in season not only requires wardrobe changes but subtle changes to your skincare and grooming. I thought I’d share with you some of my go-to products at the moment.

L’occitane cedat shower gel

A 2-in-1 cleanser for hair & body, handy if you need to travel light or you’ve forgotten your shampoo! Its fresh citrusy scent with woody base notes is energising and invigorating and great as part of your morning ritual. But unfortunately, it’s not a long lasting scent. It does create a nice foamy lather and because its quite concentrated you wont need that much!

ClarinsMen exfoliating cleanser

Even though the weather’s turned a bit chillier its still important to exfoliate to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores which can lead to blemishes and breakouts My go to exfoliating cleanser for autumn is ClarinsMen exfoliating cleanser. The thing I like about it is that it’s a soap free gel but foams up to create a thick foamy lather. Yes it’s not a cheap product, but its very effective and because its so concentrated it will last ages!

Bulldog skincare protective moisturiser

With the colder months you need a good quality hydrating moisturiser to prevent outbreaks of dry and flaky skin. This protective face cream from Bulldog skincare has the added benefit of SPF. Even though we’re not in the middle of a heatwave, its still worth while to use SPF daily to protect against harmful UV rays, which can cause wrinkles and age spots… Now we don’t want any of those just yet!

Mr Jamie Stevens sea salt spray

This product from the relatively new Mr Jamie Stevens range is one I’ve been using a while now and I’ve seen really good results. I use it as a pre-blow dry treatment. It adds big amounts of volume whilst adding texture. Finish with a styling cream or clay for that ultimate matt finish.
