ClarinsMen My Weekend Essentials

Now we’re just about into the Summer months, Christmas (dare I say it!) seems a distant memory! One of my best Christmas presents was the ClarinsMen My Weekend Essentials which I’ve only recently got round to trying  as I’ve been so busy trialing other skincare products. I thought I’d share a post with you on my thoughts on this skincare set.

Clarins for Men Gift Set

I’m sure for most people, Clarins doesn’t need any introduction. The Parisian brand dates back to 1954 with the idea of advancing beauty by making it more real and natural. They’ve been at the forefront of skincare for years and they officially launched the ClarinsMen range back in 2002.

The ClarinsMen My Weekend Essentials includes 4 products (2 are full size products); Exfoliating cleanser, Smooth shave foaming gel, Super moisture balm and Eye serum. It also comes in a smart wash bag/carry case that has a hook which is great for hanging on the back of the shower door if you’re on the move.

Exfoliating Cleanser

This 2-in-1 exfoliator and cleanser helps to eliminate impurities and and traces of pollution. It’s a thickish cream cleanser (that makes it sound like some kind of kitchen cleaner!)  which foams and lathers up well and has a nice clean and fresh fragrance. It also includes exfoliating beads to help remove dead skin cells. As with a lot of high end skincare products, you only need a pea sized amount per use. For me personally, I wouldn’t use it everyday, but every other day and then a gentler face wash on the other days.

Smooth Shave Foaming Gel

If you’re a regular reader you’ll know I don’t wet shave that much  mainly due to suffering skin irritation from razors! my Phillips One Blade does a close enough job. The ClarinsMen Smooth shave foaming gel is alcohol free and helps to soften stubble for an easier shave. Although I’m not a regular wet shaver, I did use it in conjunction with a razor for review purposes. The gel does help the razor glide over skin easier, although I did suffer some skin irritation on my neck line, which is normal for me. I’m yet to find a product/razor that doesn’t!

Super Moisture Balm

The Clarins super moisture balm is formulated to help revitalise and firm skin and protect against pollution. It’s formulated with sunflower auxins to help firm skin and alpine sea extract helps to soothe. It can be used after shaving or on a night if skin feels dehydrated due to sun exposure or cold air. You only need to dispense a small amount from the pump action bottle, it’s a gel like formula which is hydrating and non greasy or doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily. It’s no surprise that this product won best moisturiser in the GQ Grooming awards 2011.

Anti-fatigue Eye Serum

I’ve been looking for a quality eye cream for a while, the delicate eye area needs careful looking after. One thing I’ve been getting recently is puffy and dark circles under my eyes… (I need more sleep!!)  The ClarinsMen anti-fatigue eye serum reduces puffiness and helps to improve the look of dark circles. It also has a nourishing and revitalising effect which for me, is a great help on a morning!

The ClarinsMen My Weekend Essentials is available to buy from Maleskin priced £45 (Saving £12 if you were to buy the products separately) and would make a perfect gift for any man who is serious about his skincare regime. I’d love to try some of the other products in the ClarinsMen range.

Have you tried any of the ClarinsMen range? What are your thoughts?
