We’re nearly into 2017, the weather is has just turned even colder. As mentioned in one of my recent posts, skincare needs careful attention during the winter months to avoid drying out, even more so now temperatures have dropped that bit more. In this post, I review some essential products when it comes to winter skincare.
Palmer’s need no introduction to most, they’ve been at the forefront of skincare products for years and have a vast range of skin care and hair care products including shea butter, coconut oil and olive butter formula. I was recently asked if I’d like to review a selection of their products, being a big fan, of course I jumped at the chance.
I’ve used a few different cocoa butter formulas in the past and I can honestly say this is my favourite. It’s made with pure cocoa butter and is enriched with Vitamin E. It’s a really good body lotion that’s hydrating and fast absorbing. The thick consistency does mean it takes a bit more work to rub in than other body lotions, but don’t let that put you off. I absolutely love the light, sweet and chocolatey scent it has.
Cocoa butter formula is my first choice as an after sun care product as it helps to soothe and calm sun exposed skin. Although I don’t suffer from eczema, its formula is supposed to be suitable for people who suffer from it. Although, I can say I’ve not experienced any skin irritation whilst using it. For me this is a great affordable, everyday body lotion and it’s why its one of my skincare staples.
My hands do suffer a bit in these colder months, being exposed to the elements more and I often get calluses from going to the gym. This calls for a hard working hand cream. The Palmer’s concentrated cream helped to soften my hands and improve calluses. This is definitely going with me to work, where my hands seem to suffer the most!
Original Solid Formula
This is the same cocoa butter formula, but in solid form rather than lotion. It has the same sweet, chocolatey fragrance as the other products. I found it’s very easy to use, the solid formula melts at just below body temperature, so absorbs into your skin as soon as its applied.
The solid formula contains the highest concentration of cocoa butter enriched with Vitamin E, making it ideal for softening and relieving dry skin. It’s great for overnight use because of the deep moisturising effects making it perfect for relieving dryer, rougher areas of the body like elbows, knees and cracked heels.
Coconut Oil Formula Body Cream
As with the cocoa butter formula, it has a thick consistency which takes a bit of rubbing in once applied to the skin. It’s fast absorbing and a good hydrating body cream.
Natural coconut oil contains high levels of Vitamin E, which we all know is good for your skin. It’s also enriched with monoi oil and sweet almond oil which provides deep moisturisation and softens skin. As you’d expect, it has a nice, sweet coconuty scent to it.
Ultra Moisturising Lip Balm
The lip balm contains Vitamin E and also has the added benefit SPF15. It helps to prevent dry and chapped lips. And of course it comes cocoa butter flavour! This will be going with me on my skiing trip to provide protection from the elements when I’m out on the slopes.
Palmer’s Cocoa butter formula range is a good all round skin care range which is ideal for everyday use at very affordable prices. The range is available from most high street stores and supermarkets. You can check out Palmer’s for more information or details of retailers.
