Matis For Men Products Review

Now we’re into the colder, winter months, the air gets drier and your skin pays the price. Good quality skincare products are a must during these months to keep your skin hydrated and protected against the elements. I’m not afraid to admit, I’m quite a big fan of Parisian skincare brands, like the one I recently reviewed. Here I’d like to give you the lowdown on another French brand, Matis. If I’m honest, this is not a brand, I’d not come across before.

Matis For Men products Review

Matis have been around a long time, since 1936 in fact! They were by a chemist in Cosmetology in Paris and have taken their brand worldwide, to 69 different countries. They have their own research and development site which has allowed them to produce cutting edge, advanced formulas for their products.

They have a wide range of skincare products for face and body for both men and women. From serums to face scrubs, Matis seem to have a skincare product for most needs.

Anti-ageing active cream (50ml)

The target market of this cream is all men over 40 (I’ve a log way to go before I reach this milestone)! who wish to diminish signs of ageing and firm the skin, while providing it with comfort and moisturising.

It has been formulated with known effective active ingredients, these ingredients include Centella Asiatica or Tiger grass, known for its soothing and repairing properties. Messenger peptides which are intended to restructure the skin. Hemp oil, which is rich in Vitamin E, known for its regenerating and moisturising properties. Sweet almond oil bio-polymers form fill and delay moisturising effects and Beeswax to moisturise and forms a protective film on the skin.

Having used this product for a few weeks, for me its a good hydrating moisturiser and helps maintain a healthy complexion. The cream left my skin feeling relatively smooth and soft. I can’t comment on the effectiveness of the anti-aging properties as I don’t have many fine lines that would be filled by the moisturiser to make them less obvious. I didn’t find the cream to be too greasy or oily and I didn’t suffer any skin irritation whilst using it.

After shave balm (50ml)

After shave balm is a staple for any gent who shaves. The Matis balm is a gel-cream to provide comfort and softness to skin post shave. Myself, being a bearded gent, I only shave my cheek and neck line to maintain a neat and tidy beard. The latter I tend to just use my beard trimmer as I can suffer from skin irritation quite a bit when shaving in this area.

The balm contains the active ingredients; peppermint which refreshes, cools and soothes the skin after shaving. Vitamin A to promote cellular renewal. As the anti-aging cream, Tiger grass with its soothing and repairing properties. Aquaregul to help prevent dehydration. Bisabolol (where do they think these names up)! which helps calm and soothe and Allontoin which also helps to soothe.

For review purposes, I shaved both my neck and cheek line with my shavette a number of times and applied the balm. It has a nice consistency, not too thin like some balms can be, but not so thick that applying can  It did help to soothe and cool the shaved areas and made my skin feel hydrated and supple.

For me, these are good quality skincare products, which help maintain your skin’s complexion. Being a high end product, don’t expect to pay supermarket prices though. You can check out Matis for more information or details of stockists.
