The capital of France is often associated with some fantastic skin and hair care products, I’m sure I don’t need to mention any names! What male grooming blogger would turn down an opportunity to review a brand new French product range? Certainly not me! The brand in question is Embryolisse, a Parisian luxury skincare brand.
Embryolisse have been doing their thing on the beauty seen since 1950 and have a vast range of ladies luxury beauty products, including the every popular Lait-creme concentre. This has been favoured by dermatologists for years. Recently, they’ve turned their attention to 2 brand new practical men’s products, a shave balm and a shower gel.
Although the name may not suggest multi-use, this is a 3-in-1 product which can be used on your face, body and hair. The shower gel comes in a generous 200ml handy ‘top down’ tube. It has a very clean attractive fragrance with woody, minty notes. It has a completely soap free formula, which is supposed to offer soft cleansing suitable for all skin types. Ingredients include peppermint, vegetal glycerin and hammamelis and cedra.
I found that only a relatively small amount is required and it lathers up well. Although I prefer to use a separate shampoo and conditioner for my hair, I found I got good results from this product and left my hair feeling clean and non greasy. It also gave great results on my skin including my face which felt thoroughly cleansed and I didn’t notice any irritation. The RRP of the shower gel is £19.
After Shave Balm
Although the name may suggest otherwise, this is certainly more than just a balm. This is a 4-in-1 which is deigned to soothe, moisturise, fight ageing and tone. The balm is quite a thick cream, which is a bit unusual for a balm as they are normally thinner in consistency. For me it is more of a hydrating moisturising cream. It leaves your skin feeling smooth and soft.
The balm contains a mixture of natural active ingredients including peppermint, cedar peel and hammamelis intended to tighten pores. It also includes tapioca starch to reduce shiny zones and Vitamin E to fight the signs of ageing. It comes in a 50ml tube, which is about average size for a face cream. The RRP is £19, which I think is very reasonable for a luxury skincare cream.
The branding of the products is quite basic, for me it doesn’t do the quality of the products justice. The simple, plain branding and packaging doesn’t portray a sophisticated and high class image you’d expect from an expensive skincare range. However that doesn’t mean to say the products are not of a high quality.
If you’re looking for a set of multi-function skin and hair care products which are ideal for men on the go give this range a try. I’m sure you wont be disappointed, especially the balm.
Both products are available to buy from Boots priced at £19 each.
