When you think of frankincense what do you immediately think of? Yes, the ‘C’ word! As Christmas is only around the corner, it seems an appropriate time to review the Green Tea & Frankincense skin care set I was recently sent by G Baldwin & Co. They are a long established company, since 1844 in fact, and are stockists of all natural products including remedies, aromatherapy products, essentials oils and hair and skin care amongst others.
The products in the green tea and frankincense set were:
- Exfoliating face scrub
- Face wash
- Shaving oil
- Hydrating skin lotion
- Cotton flannel
The green tea and frankincense are natural products known for their anti inflammatory and anti bacterial properties. The products come in a great gift box, making it an ideal present for your man at Christmas.
The first thing that strikes you about is the vibrant aroma, the frankincense is certainly the dominant note. The scrub is made with finely milled bamboo particles, candellia wax beads, rounded nut granules and birch bark extract. I like the coarseness of this scrub, which helps to give a deep clean of your skins pores. The scrub left my skin feeling fresh and revitalised.
The face wash has the same strong herbal aroma as the face scrub. It contains cucumber and cooling aloe vera, together with seaweed extract which are intended to leave your skin cleansed. It lathers up relatively well, and gives it that clean feeling.
You may of heard me say before that shaving oil is my go to product for shaving and shaping my beard line. This beard oil contains Argan oil, Shea & Marula. The oil didn’t cause me any skin irritation and lubricates well shaving. However, it did dry relatively quickly on one side of my face once, making it more difficult to shave and meaning I had to apply further oil. I would suggest putting oil on in small areas at a time to avoid any wastage.
Hydrating Skin Lotion
This must be a first for me, a skin lotion with Chickweed. It’s main purpose is to rejuvenate skin and cleanse body of toxins. Again, it has a vibrant herbal scent as the other products, probably the most prominent out of the 4. For me personally, the fragrance is too strong and can be a bit overpowering. However, The lotion rubs in well and leaves your skin feeling nourished.
Overall, I’d say this is a great set for a discerning gentleman, but unfortunately, the spicy scent just isn’t for me. I’d imagine the prominent frankincense notes would appeal to perhaps a more mature man. However, If you’re looking for a completely natural skincare range, give this set a try. It retails at £35.99 which I think is fairly reasonable for a complete skincare set. For more information about Baldwins products check out their site here. Please do leave me any comments you may have about this range.
